As with all CensusScope maps, you can also click on a state in the map below. ![]() The proportion of grandparents as caregivers does not surpass 13 percent in any county in the United States. Still, it is evident that a higher percent of grandparents in the southern states are responsible for their grandchildren. With the exception of a few hotspots in the Northwest, less than 2 percent of grandparents are responsible for their children in most of the northern United States.
